The School Board of Orange County held its regularly-scheduled board meeting at 4:45 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:
Hispanic Heritage Month recognition
School Board member Johanna Lopez (District 2) highlighted several prominent Hispanic leaders and organizations in our community as part of the district’s month-long observance. On Friday, Oct. 15 beginning at 6 p.m. on YouTube Member Lopez will host a virtual event in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This is the Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation.
Some of the recognitions include:
• Juan Sabines Guerrero - The Consulate of Mexico in Orlando
• Elizabeth Valencia - Angels for Kids on Call
• Dr. Raúl Pino - The Florida Dept. of Health in Orange County
• Yesica Ramirez - Farmworker Association of Florida - Apopka
• Freddy Bultron - Without Borders Worldwide
• Sami Haiman-Marrero - Urbander
